With so many couples having to change their date due to the Coronavirus crisis, we have been sharing our insight into how they can move seamlessly from a Summer to a Winter wedding…
A key focal point (along with the food of course!) is flowers, and so we wanted to take the time to find out how you can change up your Summer florals into perfect Winter wedding flowers with advice from expert wedding florists, Pinstripes & Peonies…
“Changing seasons may affect your selection of specific flowers, but this doesn’t mean you have to compromise on everything.”
Chat things through with your florist
Your florist can guide you through your flower choices and replicate your original designs as much as possible within seasonal constraints. This will mean adapting the exact flowers, but you should be able to retain the same colour palette if you wish to do so.
The big one – peonies…
If you’re a big fan of peonies, as so many brides are, sadly these won’t be available. But, all is not lost, incredible flowers like Café Au Lait dahlias can take the place of their Spring counterpart.
Or, why not embrace the change? If you are getting married in the September-October season, make a splash with warm oranges and yellows, bringing colour and a seasonal vibrancy to your day.
If you’re getting married in the deep mid-winter, your flowers doesn’t have to feel ‘Christmassy’. Leave pine for your door wreaths and use foliage such as lichen, rosemary, hellebores and catkins.
You may have to be a little flexible, but flowers are beautiful all year-round, and your florist can work with you to create something incredible.”
