Having just celebrated a hugely successful year in 2018, we are feeling incredibly excited about the year ahead and have taken a few moments out of our busy diaries to explore key 2019 event trends!
Stuart Jenkins, Managing Director – Event Industry Trends
Events with a conscience
“Over the years we have seen a huge shift in the industry’s approach to environmental and social responsibility.
As the realities of climate change become more and more apparent, we are increasing our (already keen) focus on reducing waste, ethical sourcing and guiding clients towards ‘greener’ options.”
Events with purpose
“Events are becoming much more strategic in terms of creating a space for emotional connection and story-telling.
Living in such a highly saturated world, it is crucial to deliver memorable events that cut through the noise, resonate on a personal level with the audience and deliver the desired message.”
Clementine Lowery, Director of Sales – Styling and Wedding Trends
Colour of the Year
“There are a few prominent themes emerging in 2019 event trends, such as Pantone’s Colour of the Year – ‘Living Coral’ – which will be a key inspiration for one or two of our Spring/Summer dishes.”
Back to black
“Matt black is the new white! Adding drama and contrast to tables, food stations and canapes decking alike.”
Roast rib of beef, sobrasada, and potato terrine, roast garlic and parsley puree, smoked bone marrow and chorizo sauce
Natural warmth
“There’s also a return to nature with an abundance of foliage, natural wood elements and earthy colours (think burnt oranges, warm golden hues and a multitude of green shades).”
Personal touches
“Weddings are far more personal than ever before, with couples opting for a twist on family favourite dishes or menus that evoke and celebrate different elements of their journey together.”
Greener weddings
“Opting for fully vegetarian, vegan and gluten free weddings is massive this year. Couples are selecting caterers that offer ethical/healthy menus that are also high quality and imaginative.”
Sharing the love
“Carving stations and sharing platters are on the increase again, providing a more informal and interactive experience for guests”
Sweet love
“Dessert stations are hugely popular – allowing guests to mingle after a seated wedding breakfast. They offer a fantastic opportunity for playfulness – think foraging for miniature treats hidden amongst exquisite florals or a sumptuous Italian desserts feast by candlelight.”
Ice Ice Baby
“Building upon the resurgent trend of high quality ice-cream (see 2019 Food Trends), our late-night ice-cream cocktail stations feature a twist on classics such as the Martini Espresso with crunchy coffee bean toppings, Mojito mint choc chip, and Pina Colada with coconut ice and pineapple sauce.”
